Discussion

  • Struggles Billing
    • State-funded community health entities are having issues and concerns with the agency when billing Medicaid
      • In Wyoming, you must have a physical area code to connect to, which can cause problems with remote services.
    • Providers are sometimes finding it harder to bill people for services since they are not in the building having someone remind them.
  • Prescribing Controlled Substances
    • Pharmacists have pushed back on providers prescribing controlled substances, stating that they must see them in person at least once in 355 days.
      • Providers have noticed that their thought process is being questioned
      • This could be happening because of government shutdowns
        • All telehealth rules go back to the way they were before 2020. And they are a lot stricter and require inperson meeting times to prescribe some medications
    • Pharmacist might not have the education on what telehealth is and what they do
      • Reach out to WY Pharmacy Association to learn more about educational/outreach opportunities
  • Libraries With Health Access
    • Providers have found booths like WyTN PATHS booths really helpful for some of their patients, like those who are unhoused.
    • WyTN has PATHS booths in libraries across the state that have some medical equipment in them like blood pressures sure cuffs
      • There will be a new PATHS booth in Riverton Senior Citizens Center coming soon, and WyTN is looking to expand to more places in the future
    • Delaware is looking to expand its rural library-based access, and Wyoming could do something very similar in the future
    • WyTN PATHS booths have 211 and 988 on the booths as resources for patients
      • WyTN is working with 211 to be a resource that has information about providers that provide telehealth services
      • If you have not already, it is highly encouraged to go to 211 and fill out their provider form.
      • Please share any resources you think would be helpful to include in the PATHS Booth.
  • Wyoming and Problem Gambling
    • Wyoming is ranked 17th in problem gambling in the country
      • There is a cultural barrier when it comes to gambling in the state since it is seen as normal
  • There is a link between Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) and problem gambling
    • There is a 17% increase in suicide with problem gamblers
      • There are a lot of stressors when it comes to problem gambling like financial issues, and shame
  • There are several providers across the state that are getting funding to help with the reduction and prevention of problem gambling.
    • Look into providers receiving and addressing problem gambling in WY
